Rio Ferdinand is a guy who always speaks honestly in his interviews. He doesn’t give a damn if his comments are getting portrayed in a wrong way. He is a clear hearted player and a very straightforward person. His words have put him into trouble a few times. Still, he is the same.
The veteran defender talked to a website last week how it feels to be sitting on the bench regularly at Queens Park Rangers in spite of having such a big reputation as a player and also, if he now thinks he perhaps should have opted for a destination other than Loftus Road.
Ferdinand did not hide his disappointment about being benched, but, he denied that he was regretting that he accepted the offer of the Rangers.
According to Ferdinand, he has always been realistic in his career. He had the idea that the stage at which he is now; he might not be made to play all the time by the QPR management.
The 36-year old was quoted as saying, “Let’s be honest. No one wants himself to be benched. You can never be okay with being left out.”
“Having played at United for 12 years, it’s certainly a let-down for me. I would not lie. But, I am not surprised to find myself in this situation. I am in my late-thirties now and at this age; you cannot expect yourself to be playing every match, no matter at which club you are.”
“I knew very well that I might have to sit out most of the times here at Queens Park Rangers. You’ve got to be realistic.”
Ferdinand has been seen playing in the league only 7 times in the ongoing season. He had signed for the Rangers in the summer as a free agent.
