SKY ANNOUNCES NFL DEAL

Sky Sports have announced a new deal with the American football that will see the broadcaster show this sport for the 20th consecutive season. The National Football League (NFL) is now entering into the 20th season, and Sky Sports will once again be part of the sport. Sky Sports will be covering the sport for three years from now. The new agreement will see Sky Sports increasing the number of live games to 60 matches per season. They will be shown to the UK customers for the next three seasons. These 60 matches includes the International Series games at the new Wembley Stadium later this year, the playoffs and the Super Bowl.

Sky Sports will be starting the coverage of the new season with the match against the Dallas Cowboys and the current champions of the Super Bowl, New York Giants. The broadcasting giant has also said that they will be able to broadcast the live coverage of the matches not only on television, but also on mobile and various other platforms. The presenter of the NFL coverage for Sky Sports, Keith Cardle has said that he is extremely delighted at the deal made with the broadcasting giant with the NFL.

“This new deal is great news for NFL fans in the UK – primetime coverage of two matches on Sunday evenings, RedZone, the International Series and Super Bowl all for the next three years. We start our new season with some great games – last season’s Super Bowl champions New York Giants at home to the Dallas Cowboys, then the Indianapolis Colts who include No1 draft pick Andrew Luck away to the Chicago Bears, and on the following Thursday we get our first look at the St Louis Rams, who will be coming over to the UK for the International Series in October,” said Cardle.

NEW TV DEAL

Manchester United have successfully negotiated a deal that will see their in-house television channel MUTV being broadcast in Japan. Manchester United have a lot of supporters in Asia especially in Japan and China. They have decided to take advantage of the fan base by making MUTV available officially in these regions. They have signed a partnership deal with Fuji TV to broadcast most of the content shown on the MUTV. The in-house MUTV covers everything from match previews to match reports, while also various exclusive content like player interviews and behind the scenes footage.

Manchester United are one of the most successful club in the world having lifted the English league title a record 19 times, which is one better than the record held by Liverpool. They were favourites to lift the 20th league title last season, but were beaten by archrivals Manchester city to the title. Sir Alex Ferguson has made numerous signings in the summer transfer window in order to make Manchester United competitive once again. Robin van Persie has been the star signing of the transfer window so far. He has arrived from Arsenal for £ 24 million, while he earns around £ 10 million per season.

“MUTV is a must for any Manchester United fan, offering up-to-date and exclusive news, interviews and archive footage. The dedicated channel has a reach of 60 million worldwide and the club is delighted to be partnering with Fuji TV, one of Japan’s major TV channels, to bring MUTV to Japan. This partnership further demonstrates Manchester United’s global reach and allows us to engage with the almost four million followers we have in Japan,” said Manchester United’s commercial director Richard Arnold after announcing the deal with Fuji TV. The financial details of the deal has not been revealed by the club.
