The scheduled game between Newcastle and Waratahs has been withdrawn as the latter team does not have adequate number of players. This team, run by Wallaby great players like John Hipwell and Cyril Burke, is a famous club that has been busy with several games. The season had been going well for them, but the last game played in Buenos Aires was a loss for them and that could be a reason that many of the players were not available for the upcoming match with Newcastle.
The tradition and history of Waratahsare well known and hence, it is indeed disappointing that the game had to be called off. Taylor admitted that the decision had been a difficult one, but it was the right decision to take under the circumstances as the junior players are also poor in number. The team had started the pre season in a strong way, but the players were lost for different reasons as the games continued. Premier Rugby will now continue with nine clubs and Newcastle would be playing with other teams as decided by the rugby union.
