AVB HAILS DEFOE
The Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has hailed the performance of the Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe after he has made a good start to the season. The former Chelsea manager has decided to use the 28-year-old England international as the lone striker, despite his physical presence not being the best in the Premier league. However, Jermaine Defoe has been able to do a spectacular job as the lone striker for Tottenham, as they have recently secured three wins on the bounce. The striker was once again impressive win the match against Manchester United after Tottenham secured their first victory at Old Trafford after 23 years.
Even though Jermain Defoe did not score in the 3-2 win over Manchester United, he was extremely influential according to the manager Andre Villas-Boas. His movement was extremely crucial in Tottenham scoring the second goal through Gareth Bale. Jermain Defoe has been so impressive for Tottenham in the first six matches of the campaign that Andre Villas-Boas is yet to start with the former Manchester city striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who was signed by the club on a permanent basis for £ 5 million in the summer. Jermain Defoe has also scored four goals for Tottenham this season.
“He has been immense for the team. He’s getting continuous opportunities that maybe he didn’t have in the past so I think he is enjoying it a bit more. He is looking extremely happy. We have to be very grateful for what he has been doing for the team. For a striker goals are decisive and he has four in the Premier League. He’s not far off being top scorer and he has been creating so much,” said Andre Villas-Boas. The third successive victory against Manchester United helped lift the club to the fifth position in the Premier league with 11 points.
