NEW TV DEAL
Manchester United have successfully negotiated a deal that will see their in-house television channel MUTV being broadcast in Japan. Manchester United have a lot of supporters in Asia especially in Japan and China. They have decided to take advantage of the fan base by making MUTV available officially in these regions. They have signed a partnership deal with Fuji TV to broadcast most of the content shown on the MUTV. The in-house MUTV covers everything from match previews to match reports, while also various exclusive content like player interviews and behind the scenes footage.
Manchester United are one of the most successful club in the world having lifted the English league title a record 19 times, which is one better than the record held by Liverpool. They were favourites to lift the 20th league title last season, but were beaten by archrivals Manchester city to the title. Sir Alex Ferguson has made numerous signings in the summer transfer window in order to make Manchester United competitive once again. Robin van Persie has been the star signing of the transfer window so far. He has arrived from Arsenal for £ 24 million, while he earns around £ 10 million per season.
“MUTV is a must for any Manchester United fan, offering up-to-date and exclusive news, interviews and archive footage. The dedicated channel has a reach of 60 million worldwide and the club is delighted to be partnering with Fuji TV, one of Japan’s major TV channels, to bring MUTV to Japan. This partnership further demonstrates Manchester United’s global reach and allows us to engage with the almost four million followers we have in Japan,” said Manchester United’s commercial director Richard Arnold after announcing the deal with Fuji TV. The financial details of the deal has not been revealed by the club.
